LOOKING FOR THE 2014 EVENT? IT’S HERE!
We love walking. As well as being cheap, practically free in fact, it’s a great way to make daily journeys fun and healthy. It’s also great for taking in the sights and sounds of the neighbourhood and it’s easy to stop and chat to friends and neighbours as you go.
We reckon walking is worth celebrating and so we’ve created Southend’s first ever Walking Festival to get us all walking and learning a bit more about how to get around Southend on foot.
We have a whole week of walks for all ages and all abilities, with events taking place from 23rd-29th October. There are walks suitable for all; gentle half hour health walks to get you started and improve fitness, historical walks that mean a healthy stroll whilst learning a bit about Southend’s heritage and environmental walks where you can get back to nature in our green spaces. We’ve even got walks designed for those of us with teddies or buggies to take along! With all these to choose from there’s sure to be a walk that appeals to you.
Someone once said that there is no such thing as bad weather only inappropriate clothing so be it sunscreen or waterproofs come prepared. Other than that all you need is to wear something comfortable and choose suitable shoes . You don’t need walking boots, just something comfy and weather appropriate. You might also want to bring along a drink and a snack.
So, come and join us! All the walks are free (apart from the Essex Wildlife Trust Walk that is £3 payable locally on the day) and there is no need to book for the majority of events. There are limited places for the Shoebury Garrison Heritage Trail and the Teddy Bear Toddle though so secure your place by giving us a call on 01702 215595 or send us an email.
See you out there!
