Ideas in Motion is challenging Southend to collectively walk the distance of the pier 25 times during the Walking Festival. Relax, that’s only 33 and a half miles between us all, which is just 70,752 steps.
IN TOTAL SOUTHEND TOOK 357,834 STEPS, SO WE WALKED THE PIER 126 TIMES. FIVE TIMES OUR TARGET!
To help us keep track, we are giving out FREE pedometers to everyone who comes along to one of the walks.
We’re asking everyone to keep track of your pedometer readings and let us know how far you’ve walked each day so we can see how are we’ve got along the pier.
There are walks to suit everyone during the Festival: from the Garrison Heritage Walk for history buffs or the Buggy Walk for parents with tiny tots; to the Health Walks for those who haven’t exercised in a while and the Pirate Theme Fancy Dress Walk for land lubbers who’ve lost their sea legs.
Best of all? Walking around Southend can give you a real boost. It’s free and you can get fit, have fun and meet new people all in one. For more on why walking’s a great idea see our Ideas to help you travel better by foot in Southend.
For more details on each of the walks, including where and when to meet, head to our events calendar.
We hope to see you on one of the walks soon!
