It’s no secret with the limited parking spaces provided that Southend’s seafront can get rather hectic, particularly on weekends. So as a solution we’ve launched a Park and Ride scheme-currently being operated as a pilot- to help reduce congestion, relieve the demands on seafront and town centre parking, and encourage the transition to healthier, sustainable travel choices.
The North car Park at Southend’s Civic Centre will be available on weekends and bank holidays from 12th August- 2nd September, for Park and Ride customers. Payment for the parking/bus ticket will cost only £7 for a return journey of up to four people, including all day parking. However, please note that payment can only be received via pay by phone (download the moon app here-see useful guides below on how to register and book a parking session- or book via the online Mobon website).
Once your payment has been received you will be sent confirmation either by text or email, which needs to be presented to the bus driver on the number 9 service in return for your park and ride ticket. This service will take you from the Civic centre to the Kursaal and back, running within the normal weekend timetable.
So to make your weekend hassle-free, why not park and ride to the seafront this summer instead?
