As the nation celebrated Lewis Hamilton’s well-received success at Silverstone earlier this month, those in the know also turned their attention to Donington Park in Leicestershire, where the first test races for Formula E took place.
Formula E is the new international Championship for electric car racing and is set to take the world by storm when it hits the tarmac later this year! The Championship will kick off in September with a race through the streets of Beijing. Races in cities all over the world will follow, including Berlin, Los Angeles and Buenos Aires, before the final E-prix at Battersea Park in London next June.
Formula E is a fantastic chance to see the latest innovations in the world of electrical motoring in action, proving once and for all that electric cars can be just as exciting as traditional motors.
As Formula E takes centre stage over the coming year, we hope more people are inspired to consider the benefits of electric cars. And don’t think the option of electric transport is limited to big cities. There are already five charging points in Southend for the kilowatt keen: in Seaways car park, Warrior Square car park, on London Road near College Way, on Hamlet Court Road near Burdett Avenue and at the Belfairs Park Woodland Centre.
Best of all, it’s completely free to use the charging points. All you need to do is join Source East to be sent a membership card, swipe this at a charging point and recharge.
