Hopefully by now you’ve all had a chance to view our Southend Spy Map, and to have given it a go. If not there’s still plenty of time to Spy Southend in the sunshine. It really is a great activity to keep you and your family having fun and staying active this summer. Don’t forget to share your Southend Spy with us on social media.
Our second piece of family friendly material created with the summer holiday in mind is a Children’s Story that’s all about just how easy it is- and not to mention fun- to travel around our town by bike, foot, or public transport.
Our story centres on a little girl named Molly, who along with her mother makes a trip to the beach in a cheap and active way. At the end of the story they’re surprised at how easy and fun their journey has been. Written to rhyme and designed to attract, this story is the perfect way to introduce active, better travel to your children this summer.
If you’re one for always using the car, even for really short journeys, this summer is the perfect time to try something new and start changing your travel habits. Who knows, the changes you make may even stick.
If you’d like to travel by bus, information on buses and tickets can be found here. If, like Molly and her mum you fancy giving the train a go then information on trains and ticket types can be found here. Molly just loves her bike and if you’d like to try cycling, take a look at our Town Centre Ring Route Map; which shows all the cycle paths and routes around Southend High Street. Haven’t got a bike? Give The Comfy Saddle a visit for either new bikes at their Southend Central store or affordable reconditioned second hand bikes from their reCycle Centre
