This month the South Essex Active Travel (SEAT) project welcomed a new Travel Engagement Officer, Paul Coulson, to the team. Paul previously worked as a cycle maintenance tutor at the Salvation Army, Hadleigh Training Centre. In his spare time, he’s also a Downhill bike racing champion! It has been a busy first month for Paul, who, along with the rest of SEAT’s Travel Engagement team, has been out across south Essex encouraging people to switch to active travel options. Paul has attended events at workplaces, colleges and several careers fairs.
Paul had the following to say about his experiences so far: “At the University of Essex’s Southend campus, we talked to lots of students about how they make their journeys to and from the campus. At SEEVIC College’s fresher’s fair, we provided personalised travel advice to students who will be joining the college in September.
“While at Rayleigh market, members of the community came up and spoke to us about how they currently travel and to see if there were other transport options available to them.
“People have been really interested to find out about the services and interventions on offer through SEAT.”
Paul and the rest of the Travel Engagement team will be attending more events in the future. Keep an eye on our social media channels and website for information about upcoming events.
