From Monday 28 April until Sunday 4 May, Southenders will be watching the wheels go round and round to support Catch the Bus Week. Led by Greener Journeys, Catch the Bus Week is an annual, nationwide campaign to encourage people to make more trips by bus and coach.
Bus providers across Southend are getting involved by offering discounts to customers. First Essex is offering 20% off the First All Essex Weekly ticket on any service. Meanwhile, Arriva is offering a free Day Saver Ticket to use on one day of your choice during the year. Simply download the free m-ticket app, register your details, click on the purchase button (don’t worry, you won’t have to pay anything) and pop in code 4343.
Sure you don’t need any more convincing, but nonetheless here are four reasons to take the bus [this/next] week:
- You can learn a language. A bus ride provides the ideal chance to pop in your headphones or crack open a book and practice your vocabulary, from croissant to cappuccino, tapas to torte. Read more.
- You can have a little ‘me time’. Riding the bus gives you the chance to be a passenger again, and this means you can let your concentration, and your imagination, wander. Read more.
- You can get your to-do list done. Write your to-do list before you arrive at work and tick off what you’ve done after a hard day. Read more.
- You can forget about having to park straight. Getting the bus means you don’t have to worry about parking at the end of your journey. You can just hop off and get on with your day without the hassle. Read more.
